Why Pay Extra to Middlemen?
Direct hostel booking in Tula is not a trendy slogan — it is basic arithmetic. Booking, Ostrovok, Avito Rental and Yandex Travel each charge 7–18 % of the room price for the role of shop window and payment gateway. That commission either sits in the receipt as an explicit «service fee» line or is quietly baked into the room rate so the guest never sees it. At 400 ₽ per bed per night this means 30–70 ₽ per night; over a week it adds up to 200–500 ₽ — roughly the price of a small grocery bag at the Magnit supermarket across the street. Our front-desk price is 400 ₽. Messenger price — 400 ₽. Phone price — 400 ₽. One number: +7 (920) 775-00-11 — and the bed is held in your name, no prepayment, no deposit. Payment at check-in: Mir card with zero fee, cash, or SBP instant transfer. Meals are not included — the Magnit shop, Rigla pharmacy and our own shared kitchen (stove, cookware, fridge) are all a few minutes away.
Below is a comparison across the 5 channels through which the «Myagko i Tochka» hostel can be booked. Watch the row «Guarantee your booking will not be cancelled»: this is what you are actually paying the aggregator for.
Save Up to 20% on Every Booking
Aggregators like Ostrovok and Yandex.Travel charge 15-20% commission. At a rate of 400₽/night, you overpay 60-80₽ per day. Over a week — up to 560₽. By booking directly, you pay the actual cost with no markups.
Book Directly — No Surprises
Just call +7 (920) 775-00-11 — that's it. No website registrations, no card holds, no email confirmations. One call — your spot is booked. You can even just show up — check-in is available 24/7.
Honest Pricing — Everything Included
On aggregators, the price can increase at checkout: "service fee", "tax", "cleaning". With us, 400₽ is the final price. Wi-Fi, linens, kitchen, parking, hot water — all included, no asterisks or fine print.

Bottom line: the minimum weekly overpayment is 200 ₽ (Avito), the maximum — 490 ₽ (Booking). Over 30 nights the direct-booking saving reaches 2 100 ₽ compared to Booking. And the aggregator gives you nothing in return except a convenient button — the address, passport details, keys and any cleaning complaints are all handled with the hostel administrator directly anyway.
Why Aggregators Are More Expensive: How the Commissions Work
Behind the «Book» button on every platform sits a contract with the hotel for 10–20 % of every booking. Booking has historically charged 15 %, but for popular objects in high season the commission rises to 18 % through the Preferred Partner program. Ostrovok averages 12 %, climbing to 15 % with cashback-promotion enrolment. Yandex Travel takes 10–15 % depending on the tier. The hotel does not «give a discount» from this: the commission is built into the base price, so the room on the platform sells for more than at the front desk. That is why the price shown on the aggregator shop window is almost always higher than the direct price — even when the «service fee» line does not appear in your receipt.
Avito Rental works differently — the ≈ 7 % service fee is charged to the tenant as a separate line. It looks more honest, but the outcome is the same: 400 ₽ becomes 428 ₽, and over a week that is 196 ₽ — enough to buy 2 litres of milk, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, cheese and a pack of coffee at Magnit across the street. Exactly the «tomorrow-morning grocery bag» you will need after check-in anyway.
A separate line item that aggregators hide is currency conversion for foreign cards. Booking issues the invoice in euros or dollars, and your Russian card converts the amount twice: RUB → EUR → RUB. The exchange margin is 1.5–3 %, another 60–120 ₽ per week on top of the commission. At our front desk with a Mir card or SBP transfer there is no conversion at all.
Most importantly, aggregators sell not a bed, but the probability of a bed. Booking's terms include «equivalent lodging», Ostrovok's — «relocation on rebooking», Avito's — the seller's right to withdraw the listing before check-in. The platform guarantees to refund your money, but not that you will actually sleep in the bed you booked. In our system, the bed is locked to your name the moment you call — no overbooking algorithm can move it.
What to Buy at Magnit With the Savings
Aggregator commission saved over a week — 200–500 ₽. That is exactly the average price of a small grocery basket at Magnit across the street from the hostel (3 minutes on foot): a pack of coffee, milk, bread, a dozen eggs, cheese — enough for 2–3 breakfasts and a light dinner. Meals are not included in the room rate, but our shared kitchen (stove, cookware, fridge) lets you cook for yourself. A week of self-catering saves another 3 000–5 000 ₽ compared to eating out every day — and you already have the initial grocery budget, the money you did not hand to Booking. The Rigla pharmacy nearby covers the small emergencies that always pop up on the second day of a business trip.
