Meals are not included in the rate, but the kitchen is fully equipped — a stove, microwave, kettle and dishes — so in the morning before your procedure you can quietly brew caffeine-free oats, and after the anaesthesia in the evening you can have a warm broth. Three to five minutes on foot are Magnit supermarket with hot bakery until 22:00 and Rigla pharmacy with women's vitamins, folic acid and skincare. Check-in is round the clock: if your train arrives at 03:42, a live person meets you at the desk, not a self-service kiosk.

We understand how important it is to feel safe. At the Cozy Hostel in Tula hostel, the premises are secured, a staff member is on site around the clock, and only registered guests have access. Women-only rooms are available — men are not placed in them. Many of our female guests stay for several weeks and months, which is the best proof of reliability.

Within 300 metres of the entrance are Magnit supermarket with hot bakery, ready-made salads and soups until 22:00 (meals are not included in the room rate, but buying something for dinner and reheating it in our kitchen takes five minutes). Rigla pharmacy stocks the women's range: vitamins for women 30+, folic acid, magnesium B6, personal hygiene products, the Ksenia Sobchak cream line, and decorative cosmetics — foundations and lipsticks. Forgot your toothbrush or mascara? Not a problem, the pharmacy is open till 22:00.

Kettle and mug in the room

The women-only room has an electric kettle, two mugs, a spoon, tea sachets and single-serve sugar — so you do not have to go into the shared kitchen at night in a bathrobe. Before your clinic appointment in the morning, you brew tea right in your room.

Separate women's shower and toilet

The bathroom on the women-only floor is women only, marked with a sign, key held only by guests of the women-only room. Not shared with any adjacent men's block, not "on a schedule", but physically separate.

We will put you on the ground floor (no lugging a suitcase after anaesthesia), skip morning housekeeping if your procedure was late, save dinner in the fridge under your name. No questions about "which clinic" or "what for" — only what is needed for your stay to be calm.

Quiet hours till noon on request

If tomorrow's procedure is early or today's flight was rough, ask "do not wake me till 12:00" and we simply move housekeeping to another day. Hostel-wide quiet hours are 23:00–08:00, but personal requests are handled separately.

These rules come not from a Ministry of Foreign Affairs leaflet but from dozens of conversations with our guests — business travellers, clinic patients, solo tourists. They work in any city, not only Tula:

Book by phone, not only through an aggregator

A live voice at reception is your first filter. A woman's voice, a calm tone, willingness to answer "silly" questions about the neighbourhood and transport — take it. Irritation, "sort it out yourself" — look elsewhere, regardless of the rating on the booking site.

Arrive in daylight if you can choose

The night train from Moscow reaches Tula at 03:42, the day train at 13:30. Price difference — 200–400 RUB, difference in peace of mind — enormous. In daylight you see the courtyard, the passers-by, the open shops. If a night arrival is unavoidable, arrange a station pickup in advance (we have a contract with a vetted taxi driver for 300 RUB).

The key stays with you, not "in the pigeonhole at reception, just in case". One copy with you, one with the receptionist in the safe (for emergencies). No "leave it at the desk when you go out" — going out, you take it. Same with the passport: we make a copy at check-in and return the original immediately.

Not just "the hostel", but specifically the number where the night receptionist is reachable from 22:00 to 08:00. We give it on a business card at check-in. Save it under a clear name ("hostel night Tula") — so at 3 a.m. you do not scroll browser history.

Tell family the address, phone and schedule

Send someone close by messenger: the full hostel address, reception phone, your room number, a rough schedule (when at the clinic, when back). This is not paranoia — it is zero-cost insurance. If something goes wrong, family already know where to call.

Bonus rule: on your first evening, do not go far from the hostel. Walk a 300-metre circle around the block in daylight, find the nearest pharmacy and grocery — so at night tomorrow you know the way rather than searching a map in the dark.

Recordings are kept for 14 days on a local server in a locked reception cabinet; access is limited to the director and senior receptionist. We release recordings only on a police request with a formal order. If a guest wishes, she can watch her own footage — just ask at reception.
